Mr. Swanson is the leader of the Acquisitions Team at The Compass Group’s East Coast office. He believes in a collaborative and collegial approach, enabling team members to shine and become experts on specific companies and industries, while also still having opportunities to develop skills and expertise in other industries and functional areas. This “all hands on deck” philosophy is particularly useful when CODI is working on more than one platform or add-on acquisition at the same time. In addition to sourcing new potential acquisitions and performing diligence, Mr. Swanson and his team act as strategic partners to the management of the companies that are already part of the Compass Diversified Holdings family.
Mr. Swanson is currently a director and the Chairman of Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation and also serves as a director for of a number of other companies including CEI Holding Corporation, doing business as Clean Earth and Liberty Safe and Security Products, Inc. Mr. Swanson joined The Compass Group in 2001. Prior to that, Mr. Swanson was with Goldman Sachs. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Maciariello is the leader of the Acquisitions Team at The Compass Group’s West Coast office. In this capacity he works diligently to both identify investment opportunities and act as a strategic sounding board for the management teams of our existing subsidiaries. His thoughtful, proactive demeanor is underscored by a desire to develop people and help create a collegial culture focused on performance.
Mr. Maciariello is currently a director and the Chairman of 5.11, Inc., doing business as 5.11 Tactical and Sterno Products, LLC. He is also a director of Advanced Circuits, Inc., The Ergo Baby Carrier, Inc. and Fresh Hemp Foods Ltd., doing business as Manitoba Harvest. Mr. Maciariello joined The Compass Group in 2005. Prior to that, he was with Bain & Company and Deutsche Banc Alex Brown. Mr. Maciariello is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Columbia Business School.
As one of the key members of the Acquisitions Team, Mr. Dounis works on all facets of the deal process including building relationships with investment banks and intermediaries, evaluating new potential subsidiary companies, and when appropriate, negotiating directly with sellers and their advisors. Never one to shy away from rolling up his sleeves, Mr. Dounis is very involved in building strong working relationships with the management team partners of current Compass Diversified Holdings subsidiary companies and enjoys helping them grow their respective businesses.
Mr. Dounis joined The Compass Group in 2007. Prior to that, he was with UBS and Deloitte & Touche. He currently serves as a director for Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation and CEI Holding Corporation, doing business as Clean Earth. Mr. Dounis is also a Certified Public Accountant and a CFA Charterholder. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Tim Chiodo joined The Compass Group in 2004. Mr. Chiodo currently serves as a board director for Liberty Safe & Security Products, Inc. and Crosman Corporation and provides board-level support to CEI Holding Corporation, doing business as Clean Earth. He previously served on the board of directors of CamelBak Products, LLC. As a key member of the Acquisitions Team, Mr. Chiodo actively sources new platform acquisitions and performs investment due diligence, focusing on the branded consumer products and niche manufacturing industries. As a partner for the management teams of the existing subsidiary companies, Mr. Chiodo helps develop strategic goals and identifies and executes add-on acquisitions. Mr. Chiodo also heads Compass’ leveraged sourcing initiative, in which he develops and implements bundled procurement across the CODI subsidiary companies. Before joining Compass, Mr. Chiodo spent three years as an investment banking analyst in the consumer products group at Lazard in New York. Mr. Chiodo holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Chiodo currently resides in New Canaan with his wife and their four young children.
Zach Sawtelle is a member of the Acquisitions Team at The Compass Group’s West Coast office. Mr. Sawtelle is responsible for originating and diligencing new investment opportunities, executing transactions and working with our partner companies.
Mr. Sawtelle is currently a director of 5.11, Inc., doing business as 5.11 Tactical, Sterno Products, LLC, The Ergo Baby Carrier, Inc. and Advanced Circuits, Inc. He is also a board observer of Fresh Hemp Foods Ltd., doing business as Manitoba Harvest. Mr. Sawtelle joined The Compass Group in 2009 as an associate. Prior to that, he was an investment banker with Citi. Mr. Sawtelle holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of California, Davis.
Mr. Moss joined The Compass Group’s West Coast office in 2017. He provides support throughout the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of new platform and add-on investments. Additionally, Mr. Moss is actively engaged in the monitoring of subsidiary companies alongside senior colleagues. Prior to joining The Compass Group, Mr. Moss was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch as an investment banking analyst in the Financial Sponsors Group, focused on advisory and acquisition financing for large cap leveraged buyouts. Mr. Moss graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with an MS in financial engineering and a BS in industrial and systems engineering.
Mr. Scholhamer joined The Compass Group’s Westport office in 2016. He provides support throughout the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of new platform and add-on investments. Additionally, Mr. Scholhamer is actively engaged in the monitoring of subsidiary companies alongside senior colleagues. Prior to joining The Compass Group, Mr. Scholhamer was an investment banking analyst with Deloitte Corporate Finance (formerly McColl Partners), where he focused exclusively on M&A across the consumer, industrials, and healthcare sectors. Mr. Scholhamer graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University.
