In August 1999, Compass Group Investments, Inc. and its subsidiaries ("CGI") purchased 100% of Columbia Staffing and Columbia Health Care Services (collectively, "Columbia"). Established in 1981, Columbia provides light industrial, clerical, medical, and technical personnel to clients throughout the southeast from its approximately twenty branch offices located in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
In October 2000, CGI acquired a majority interest in CBS Personnel Services ("CBS"), based in Cincinnati, Ohio and merged CBS and Columbia with and into CBS Personnel Holdings, Inc. Established over 25 years ago, CBS is a dominant player in the temporary staffing industry in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, with a leading presence in the metropolitan markets of Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Lexington, Louisville, and Indianapolis. CBS has over 144 branches and provides employees in a variety of niches, including light industrial, financial, professional, scientific, construction, transportation, IT and clerical.
CGI sold its interest in CBS in May of 2006 to Compass Diversified Holdings.

"Compass has supported our efforts to improve across all facets of our business. Our honest and up front relationship allowed us to successfully navigate the worst economic cycle in the history of our industry and to position ourselves for strong growth as we emerged out of this cycle. During this period, CGI also supported the company financially by investing significant additional equity to retire debt as the company's earnings softened. At this point, the Company's business is once again strong, and we have emerged as an even more clear market leader in the geographies in which we operate; in this regard, Compass has supported our efforts to build a sales staff and has encouraged timely expansion to take advantage of opportunities the management team sees here. Finally, Compass has also helped our Board become strong and highly value added through the addition of key outside board members."
Fred Kohnke, CEO CBS Personnel Holdings, Inc.
