The Compass Group manages the day to day business and operations of Compass Diversified Holdings (NASDAQ: CODI), a publicly traded holding company. CODI seeks to generate superior risk adjusted returns for its shareholders, as well as steady and growing cash distributions, through the acquisition and control of a diverse set of North American middle market businesses. We identify, evaluate, negotiate and, where applicable, consummate acquisition opportunities on behalf of CODI. Following acquisition of a new business by CODI, we work with the management team of the acquired business to aggressively pursue opportunities to grow medium and long term cash flow.
Our transactions facilitate monetization of ownership positions for entrepreneurial and financial owners of companies, as well as large corporations seeking to divest non-core operations. CODI acquires interests in companies in a broad range of industries, with a preferred transaction size of $60 million to $300 million in value.
We typically work closely with management in these acquisitions, and we encourage significant management ownership through creative and generous equity programs. In general, we favor those companies that are significant participants in growing segments of the service, distribution and manufacturing sectors of the economy.
