In May 2001, Compass Group Investments, Inc. ("CGI") and its subsidiaries acquired the assets of the California Pellet Mill Company, together with its affiliate entities, Roskamp Manufacturing and Champion Products (collectively, "CPM"). CPM is the world's leading manufacturer of pelletizing equipment for the animal feed industry and milling and flaking equipment for the oilseed processing industry. Founded in 1883 and based in Waterloo, Iowa, CPM also has substantial operations in Indiana, New Hampshire, the Netherlands, Ireland, France, Singapore and China.
In June 2002, CPM acquired the assets of Beta Raven from Raven Industries. Headquartered in St. Charles, MO, Beta Raven is a leading supplier of computerized process controls and ingredient scaling systems for the feed milling, food processing and pre-mix industries.
CGI sold its interest in CPM in December 2003 and realized a return to shareholders of more than 5 times its initial equity investment.

"Compass gave CPM management a strong support network and an array of valuable resources that helped us explore various internally generated and acquisition-related opportunities. They supported management's initiatives, leading to the successful and profitable growth of our company. In addition, Compass' economic treatment of the CPM management team at all levels was always extraordinarily fair, and their ownership of our company from May, 2001 to December, 2003 was profitable for all parties involved."
Ted Waitman, CEO CPM Roskamp Champion
